Because I want to.

I know it is absolutely ridiculous for me to be attempting a blog post right now... It's 11:13pm and Baby is waking me up at least twice a night. But I'm going to do it anyway because I want to! It's strange how this blog tugs at me. It's a like a friend I haven't talked to in a while. Silly, I know. I can't really explain it so I'll stop trying. Sorry blog friend, for not visiting more often. I have a couple good reasons!

Baby is doing great, growing fast. He is seven weeks today. That doesn't really sound like much. Seven weeks of cuddles, seven weeks of late night bonding sessions, seven weeks of getting to know my little man better. Seven weeks of brother-sister bonding. Seven weeks of baths, tummy time, crazy schedules. Seven weeks of hearing lots of strangers say "wow, you sure have your hands full". "We're blessed," I say {even when I am about to cry from frustration and exhaustion}.

I am planning Monkey's birthday party. We had something pretty low maintenance in mind and then she changed her mind last minute to something, well, high maintenance. But that's ok. I love party planning. I love sketching out all the details, putting it all together, and enjoying it while it lasts. She wants a princess tea party with her friends. We normally head down to Dallas for her birthday so she can be with the grands, so she has never had a party with her friends. I think it will be awesome. I harnessed some of my grandmother's ambition and started making 2 of 5 princess dresses out of material I had on hand. They are still works in progress, I'll post pictures when I'm done. I'm pretty happy with how they are turning out though, especially considering these are free. I don't know if you are in the market for princess dresses, but at the store they will cost you 20-25 bucks! Crazy.

I started a new Bible study with the ladies at my church last week. It's called Seeking Him by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. It's about personal revival. It's a little intimidating. I am struggling with the thought that if I don;t come out of this revived, something must be wrong with me, or I didn't put enough effort into it. I am praying for perseverance and discipline, but I was reminded yesterday that it is God who stirs revival in us.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Philippians 2:12-13

emphasis mine

I am also reading another book by DeMoss. It is called Choosing Gratitude. This book is amazing. Life changing. If you are feeling stagnant, down, empty please read this. We have so much to be thankful for.

Remember this?

After several not fun tests and a trip to a G-I specialist 50 miles away, we found out the poor guy had salmonella. Let me just say, this was one of the most trying weeks of my life as a mom. It is really hard to watch your children in serious pain and not be able to do one thing to take that pain away. It made me pray for all those moms out there who endure this for weeks, months, years. Thanks be to God for healing him in 7 days with no trip to the hospital.

We had a really fun weekend. A quick trip to Dallas for a wedding. My kids love to dance... not sure who they got that from. Good thing they have a fun and unashamed aunt and uncle! Little Dude partied pretty hard and ate an entire piece of chocolate cake himself. He fell asleep about 30 seconds after we put him in his carseat and didn't wake up until 8 the next morning.

Things felt pretty relaxed and back to normal, so I decided to start potty training the Little Dude today. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I like our method. We do a sort of boot-camp around here. No pull-ups, no leaving the house. It takes about 4-5 days and then they get it {at least the first two did}. He looks so cute in little undies!

So, what do you think of the new look? I'll be working the next few days on adding the features that were available on the old site, maybe I'll even be able to figure out something new. Sometimes you just need a change. I also dyed my hair. Dark brown. Yea for updates!

Well, the computer is about to die so I guess that is my cue to sign off.

Thanks for reading!
