Spring nesting

The first tornado of the year hit just south of our hometown last night. I don't know about you, but that signals spring to me. And with it the itch to clean and organize. I have been psyching myself up to start one of those get-a-clean-house-in-30-days challenges that pops up on pinterest everyday. Well, I'm happy to say that March is the month! My first trimester is long gone and I am feeling more energized and motivated to whip my house back into shape. Woo-hoo! Can you tell I'm really trying to get excited about this?!  Actually, I am pretty excited. I've got lots of thing to look forward to in March... a college roommate reunion

starting my first vegetable garden

a family get-together - especially excited about seeing my niece and sis from New Mexico!

4 free days ...

My parents and the Dude's parents are splitting a week with the kids which means 4 free days for me at home. For all of you moms with young kids out there... enough said, right? But who wants to spend that whole time cleaning? I have my sister-in-law to be's wedding shower to plan, my daughter's Easter dress to sew, three rooms to paint, and a garden to plant in those four days which leaves pretty much no time for cleaning and organizing. So, I'll pace myself throughout the whole month of March to get it done, and I'll bring you all along for the ride. Once the house is clean the goal is to implement a weekly maintenance schedule, and to stick to it. The stick to it part is always the hardest for me. Maybe I'll get super-organized and make a household notebook. Wow, I really can dream big!

Ambitious? You betcha! I have never had this house to myself, I think my productivity sans my three little helpers should be about 400x what it is on normal days. I'm going to miss them like crazy, but it will be good for everyone. I know my mom and grandma J have been itching to get their hands on the kids without mom around to spoil all the spoiling :) I might just have to make a recording of them running up and down the halls screaming and laughing so it doesn't get too quiet around here.

Anyway, tomorrow starts the big clean up! I'm following this checklist and will be starting with the kitchen. Why don't you join me?
