A friend of mine is selling her house and moving back in with her parents so she invited me over to pick through things she couldn't take with her. I scored in a major way! She had an upright piano she was giving away. It found a new home in my living room. Monkey is trying to convince me to paint it because it is in her words old and brown. I'm trying to get the phrase perfectly vintage into her vocabulary.
Seriously, I think it's beautiful. While it might technically be a little large for our tiny living room, I was looking for a focal point and I got one! Now, what to put on it? It will make an awesome mantle at Christmas! I've never had a mantle before! I also scored an end table.
I was intrigued by the shape and lines in this table. Very geometric, which speaks to the Math major in me. Does anyone know what a ten-sided figure is called?
There's some random math knowledge to make you smarter today. :) I do have plans to make it over. I need to research some techniques. Pretty sure Ashley Ann would have some inspiration for me. It's new purpose will be as a nightstand in our bedroom. My other treasures included a nice table lamp, some clothes I will hopefully fit into one of these non-pregnant days, free weights, and a contraption to keep the cold air from entering my house under the door in the winter. Not too bad for $0.00!
Now, since I reeled you into reading my post with the word FREEBEE I figure I better give something away :). Leave a comment in the comment section of this post and you will be entered to win a copy of Halfway Herbert by Francis Chan. For an additional entry, post a link to my blog on your Facebook page and leave a second comment here telling me you did so.
This book is an illustrated kids book highlighting our inability to be good on our own. This book will help your children understand why they need a savior, and that the savior they need is Jesus Christ. This book has served us well in spurring on discussions about sin, repentance, and forgiveness with Monkey. I think it would do the same for your family. It would also be a great addition to your church nursery if you don't have little ones at home. :)
The contest will close Friday August 19, 2011 at 9pm central standard time. The winner will be chosen by random using a random number generator. It is open to residents of the US only. Please leave me your email so I can get a hold of you if you win. You will then have one week to give me info on where to send the prize before it is forfeited and an alternate winner is chosen. Good Luck!
